Village Fete

Events_Page , Fairs Festivals And Fetes

Many thanks to all who took part in either helping at or attending the 2016 Withersfield Fete. The weather could have been a little kinder, but over 300 people came through the gate, and in total we raised £3,335 After expenses, £2,770 was given to the PCC to support the fabric fund for our lovely church, St Mary's Withersfield. The fabric fund and pays for maintenance, utilities, grass cutting and insurance.

We all appreciate having this wonderful building in our Village, and £800 of the monies raised have already gone to the repair of wooden window slates in the Church tower. Apart from raising much needed funds, the Fete is also a great opportunity for the Village to come together, and this can only be measured by the speed in which the Fete site was set up - and dismantled - like clockwork! Next year we are going to run a time-delay video - just to show how efficient you all are!

This year we welcomed back the Devils Dyke Morris Men, who provided a wonderful show - included involving 'amateurs' in their dance routines. We were also entertained by the very talented Haverhill Youth Orchestra - who contributed to the very English feel of this traditional Fete.

Thanks too go to those who bought raffle tickets, and provided raffle prizes - this year we raised £60 more in the raffle than 2015.

We are always keen to welcome new helpers - and welcome feedback. The date for 2017 has already been set - so put June 24th in your diary! If yo uhave any comments please contact Sheila Tibbenham
